Design Approach
The scenic design for A Night at the Farm imagines a barn through the playful perspective of a child. Early conversations described the aesthetic as “Barbie’s Dreamhouse meets Fisher-Price,” combining familiar farm architecture with bold colors, simplified shapes, and exaggerated proportions. Research looked at both real barns and the ways those buildings are interpreted by children’s toy manufacturers, using recognizable details without trying to recreate a realistic farm. The final design transforms the stage into an oversized play set—a bright, colorful world that feels familiar, but leaves plenty of room for imagination and play.
